Grab yourself a cup of tea, sit back and read on to find out how Powerflushing should be an important part of your central heating maintenance routine.

What is powerflushing?

Powerflushing is a process that uses powerful chemicals to flush out any sludge or debris that has settled in your radiators or central heating system. Powerflushing makes sure that the water in your central heating system can circulate effectively through the whole system to heat your home as efficiently as possible.

Knowing when you might need a Powerflushing service

#1- cold rooms

There are many reasons why a Powerflushing service may be beneficial to your heating system. But, it can often be hard to know when this service is really needed.

Take reason number 1 for example, are you experiencing that some rooms in your house are colder than others?

If some of the rooms in your home heat up quicker than others, Powerflushing could solve this issue. Having a heating system that is as clean an efficient as possible will help ensure that your entire home is heated without any rooms feeling colder than they should.

If your radiators have cold spots, for example, they may be warm at the top but not at the bottom, this could be down to a build-up of sludge in the bottom of your radiators. If this is the case, Powerflushing should solve the issue and have your radiators in prime working order in not time.

#2- Having to bleed your radiators often?

If you’re having to bleed your radiators frequently, this is something that can be resolved through Powerflushing. If the water from your radiator is particularly dark and discoloured, this can be a sign that there is a lot of debris and or sludge in your heating system. Just be sure to look out for the signs and call a member of our team today to arrange your Powerflushing service.

#3- New boiler

If you’re having a new boiler installed into an old heating system, here at LJS we recommend Powerflushing to be carried out in between the changing of systems, as any contaminations already present in the old central heating system could potentially damage the new boiler!
